DC Kupwara reviews progress of Geology & Mining Deptt

KUPWARA, July 19: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the progress of activities of Geology & Mining department, here.
The meeting discussed threadbare various issues related to e-auction of minor blocks, fixation of revised rates and formulation of NOCs from different departments.
The DC who is also chairman of District Level Single Window Committee (DLSWC) for Kupwara district said that the Department of Geology & Mining is being further streamlined in the district and the process of e-auction of various minor blocks is underway. He said the formalities for e-auction of 3 blocks in Mawar nallah, one each block in Lolab nallah and Kehmil nallah is in progress.
The DC asked to constitute a committee which will hold physical inspection of 3 blocks of Mawar Nallah (Block No.1, 2 and 5) for e-auction. Likewise, Minor Block of Lolab Nallah (Block No.4) and Kehmill nallah (Block No. 17), the DC asked concerned departments to speed up the process for issuing the NOCs so that the e-auction of the blocks could be done properly.
He stressed upon the concerned officers to ensure that there should be no illegal mining outside the registered blocks from any nallah of Kupwara district and also there should be strict ban on unscientific mining in the areas which are in-auction.
Regarding revision of rates of Minor minerals, the DC directed for the constitution of a committee which will make a market survey of rates and submit the suggestions for revision of rates before the DLSWC in the next meeting.
The DC stressed upon the officers to work with added dedication and sincerity keeping in view the important role of mining in producing material for developmental activities.
