KARGIL, Dec 30: In order to review the necessary arrangements for operationalization of AN-32 Air Force Courier services, Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer Kargil, Haji Gulzar Hussain convened a meeting of concerned officers here today.
Officers from the District Administration, Police and the Air Force attended the meeting. Various issues related to the operation of flights were discussed threadbare. The service would operate from Kargil to Srinagar and Kargil to Jammu during the current winter season.
It was given out that liaison officers have already been nominated, whom people can contact for booking of tickets and other related matters, adding that flights would become operational from January 1 to facilitate movement of people during the winter months.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned authorities to work in tandem and maintain close coordination for smooth operation of the courier service. He also urged upon the concerned agencies to use social networking for better dissemination of information regarding flight timings, rescheduling or cancellations if any on real-time basis.
He impressed upon the liaison officers to ensure that tickets are issued on first-come, first-served basis and priority be given to ladies, old-aged persons, infants and patients.
The meeting decided that in case of cancellation of any sortie due to bad weather or any other reason, necessary announcements should be made through electronic media so that the passengers are informed well in time.
Facilities including the deployment of security personnel, medical team, fire tenders, transportation to airport besides other prerequisites were also discussed threadbare.
