DC inaugurates de-addiction centre

POONCH, Aug 18: Deputy Commissioner, Tariq Ahmed Zargar today inaugurated a drug de-addiction counseling center of Poonch Police at District Hospital here.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rajiv Pandey, Dr Niaz Ahmed, Medical Superintendent, Mohan Sharma DySP(DAR), Shaheen Khan, CPO, DySP Saleem Bhatt and DySP Shaheed Nayeem  and large number of locals were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the society has to work together to fight against the menace of drugs which is emerging as major threat to our youth. He asked the Health Department to coordinate with Police in running this centre through preventive and therapeutic treatment, awareness and educative measures with follow-up counseling programmes of vocational training and ultimately the rehabilitation of reformed drug abusers.
SSP said that the de-addiction counseling center is a contribution of Poonch Police towards the society for the benefit of the local populace. He added that the Center has been established as per the directions of PHQ to reach out to the people of Poonch and will provide basic Medical and Counseling facilities for the patients of drug abuse. He informed that the center offers comprehensive treatment program including detoxification, motivation enhancement for behavioral change, training techniques to prevent relapse and intervention for families of persons with substance abuse disorders.
