Reasi, Oct 6: District Development Commissioner, Reasi Sushma Chauhan today convened public grievances redressal camp -cum-awareness camp at Laiter village of Pouni block of Reasi district to take first hand appraisal of the problems and demands of the people and also to make them aware about the various provisions of welfare schemes so that they can avail maximum benefits.
DDC was accompanied by ACD- Suram Chand Sharma, Chief Planning Officer- HL Sharma, Executive Engineers, all district officers and heads of various projects . The people apprised the Deputy Commissioner about various problems being faced by them which included lack of transport facilities, scarcity of drinking water, electricity undue fare charges by transports etc and projected demand for installation of electric poles, establishment of medical facilities, macadamization of roads and streamlining functioning of the field staff. They also demanded that the developmental works should be proposed after taking into consideration the topography of the area.
Detailed deliberations were held sector wise on the issues related to anganwadi centres, schools, roads, health institutions, livestock health care, ration supply where district officers worked out the timelines for early grievance redressal.
Addressing the gathering, DC said that more such camps will be organised for helping the populace of rural and far off pockets in getting their problems mitigated within shortest possible time. She emphasized the need of strong coordination between the administration and the people for effective implementation of various welfare and development programmes which is pre- requisite for growth and progress of an area.
Responding to the problem of undue fare charges, DC said that she has already taken up the matter with ARTO and issued him directions to display rate list for every route so as to put check on this malpractice, she directed
The DC directed the officers to conduct frequent visit of far – off and hilly areas to ascertain the people’s grievances at their doorsteps for an early redressal.
