UDHAMPUR, May 31: To assess the progress of ongoing developmental works and mega projects, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai today conducted an extensive tour of the remote areas of Dudu and Basantgarh. The inspection covered works under PMGSY, PWD, JJM and other sectors.
The DC was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Singh, Additional District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh, SDM Dudu Dr. Manmeet Kumar, SDM Basantgarh, Chief Education Officer Geetu Bangotra, and other officers from relevant departments.
During the inspection of road projects and other developmental works, the DC emphasized timeline completion with use of quality material.
The executing agencies were instructed to mobilize resources effectively and complete the ongoing projects within the stipulated timeframe.
Later, the DC visited Government Higher Secondary School Basantgarh, where she flagged off an awareness rally to mark World No Tobacco Day.
Addressing the participants, she highlighted the significance of the day in spreading awareness about the harmful and deadly effects of tobacco use. The DC pointed out that tobacco use not only harms people’s health but also causes emotional, physical, and financial distress to their families. She stressed the importance of willpower, determination, and counseling for quitting tobacco use. Additionally, she discussed the effects of passive smoking and suggested various ways to control it while addressing the students. The DC urged the students to actively disseminate this information among the general public.
