JAMMU, Sept 9: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Bar Association Jammu and Sumit Nayyar seeking various developments around court complex, Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice Tashi Rabstan today issued various directions.
After hearing Senior Advocate MK Bhardwaj, Advocates Ranjit Singh and Veenu Gupta for the PIL whereas Senior AAG Gagan Basotra for the State and Senior Advocate DC Raina for the JKPCC, DB observed, “Senior AAG has assured that he will pass over the instructions to DIG Traffic Jammu to ensure that there is no traffic congestion within court premises and the road leading to the court premises from Janipur Chowk and link roads. As such we direct DIG Traffic to file compliance report within this week”.
About releasing Rs one crore to JKPCC for construction of lawyers’ chambers, Division Bench observed, “Senior AAG has stated that Government has already sanctioned a sum of Rs 54 lakh in favour of CE PWD Jammu for placement of same at the disposal of MD JKPCC but Senior Advocate DC Raina appearing for the JKPCC said that no amount has been received by the executive agency till date”.
Accordingly, Division Bench directed Senior AAG to verify this fact and file compliance report.
