JAMMU, Nov 27: In a letter written by Chairman Disable Welfare Association of J&K High Court regarding enhancement of pension, which was treated as Public Interest Litigation, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan today directed the State to file objections.
In the letter, it has been mentioned that at present the pension of handicapped persons of J&K is very low comparing to other states. At present Uttrakhand is paying Rs 800 to old age and handicapped persons and widows and in Haryana Rs 1000 is being paid to old age and handicapped persons and widows.
“During the 2nd last Assembly Session, it was decided that this shall be enhanced within six months, but no action has been taken so far despite the fact that prices of daily use items and other things are increasing and it is very difficult for the disabled persons to manage their daily life”, the letter said.
