DB seeks report on status of Govt hospitals

JAMMU, Feb 22: Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Javed Iqbal Wani has sought status of Government Hospitals from October 2016 till date.
The direction has been passed in a Public Interest Litigation regarding the infrastructure facilities in the Government hospitals. The DB directed D C Raina, Advocate General and Ravinder Gupta, Additional Advocate General appearing for the respondents to seek instructions in the matter and file an affidavit detailing therein the progress or the status of the Government Hospitals from October 2016 till date.
“The dispute arising in this Public Interest Litigation was taken to the Supreme Court whereby vide order dated 21.10.2016, the matter has been remanded after framing certain issues with various directions”, the DB said, adding “one of the issues which has to be considered and monitored is regarding the infrastructure facilities in the Government hospitals”.
DB further said, “since in the present petition no one is turning up on behalf of the petitioners, we request Advocate SS Ahmed to assist the court in this petition also on behalf of the petitioners”, adding “there is yet one another PIL No. 37 of 2013 titled Smile Social Youth Club of J&K Versus State of J&K and Others wherein it is alleged that the court has already constituted a committee of experts which is also one of the directions of the Supreme Court contained in its order dated 21.10.2016 in the matter arising from this writ petition”.
DB directed Registry to list all the matters on March 24, 2021.
