JAMMU, Nov 14: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Inderjeet Khajuria, President All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association highlighting delay in artificial lake and Gandola projects of Jammu, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Alok Aradhe today directed Divisional Commissioner Jammu to remain present on next date of hearing.
The direction was passed after Shamim Wani, Managing Director, Cable Car Corporation stated that land which is urgently required for completion of the Gandola project has not been handed over by the concerned authorities.
After hearing Senior Advocate BS Salathia with Advocate Ashish Sharma for the PIL whereas AAG FA Natnoo for the State, DB observed, “some other aspects which have been pointed out by the counsel for the petitioner were brought to our notice. One relates to the dumping of garbage along the banks of the River Tawi. Another issue which could arise is defacement of the public properties including that of the Cable Car Corporation”.
Upon this, Division Bench directed State to explain this aspect on next date of hearing.
