JAMMU, Nov 14: Inter Collegiate Chess Tournament for men and women of Cluster University of Jammu commenced at Government MAM College here today.
Prof Romesh Chander, Principal, MAM College Jammu was the chief guest and Prof Bhupinder Singh, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Cluster University of Jammu was the guest of honour.
In men section, GGM Science College beat Government College of Education by 3-1 and Government MAM College defeated SPMR College of Commerce by 3-1.
In women section, SPMR College of Commerce beat Government College of Education by 4-0 and GGM Science College outplayed Government SPMR College of Commerce by 2.5-1.5.
The final match will be played between Government MAM College and GGM Science College in men section tomorrow, whereas in women section, GGM Science College will take on Government PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
The matches were officiated by SP Sharma and Sushil Saini and observed by Dr Vinod Bakshi, Sports Coordinator, Cluster University of Jammu.
Among others present were Prof Subash Sharma, Sumnesh Sharma, Physical Director, MAM College, Mahesh Sharma, Physical Director, GGM Science College, Amit Jamwal, Assistant Physical Director, Government PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu and Neelam Kumari, Assistant Physical Director, Government MAM College Jammu.
