JAMMU, Oct 6: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Sanjeet Kumar seeking pollution free environment in J&K, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan today directed the Divisional Commissioner Jammu to remain present in the court tomorrow.
After hearing Advocate Jatinder Choudhary appearing for the petitioner whereas Deputy AG Ehsan Mirza appearing for the State, DB took serious note of the status report and observed, “the status report filed by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu is only repetition of the status report filed earlier without any steps taken for setting up of Solid Waste Management System”.
It is worthwhile to mention here that earlier Division Bench had directed respondents to submit a report indicating the steps taken for removal of garbage from the Katra to Bhawan and solid waste dumping sites identified by the competent authority for dumping and disposal of garbage removed from the city.
The DB had also sought to know steps taken to ensure that such disposal does not cause pollution and nuisance for the people residing around and in vicinity of such sites.
