LEH, Oct 6: Five non-local labourers were killed in a road accident near Taru Thang, here today.
According to reports, around 14 people were travelling in a Tipper when it met with an accident near Taru Thang resulting into on spot death of four labourers while another one succumbed to his injuries at SNM Hospital.
Other two injured including driver of the Tipper, Vishal Kumar, was not in a condition to give statement. Medical Superintendent, Dr P Wangchuk, said that two injured have been shifted in ICU considering their critical condition.
As per report, tipper bearing registration No JK-10 7838 was coming towards Leh when it met with the accident. The dead and the injured are believed to be non-local labourers.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh, Dr Sonam Dawa Lonpo, visited the hospital and enquired about the well being of the injured. He also expressed shock and grief over the deaths of labourers in the accident. DC Leh Prasanna Ramaswamy also visited the hospital.
The CEC directed Chief Medical Officer, Leh, Superintendent, SNM Hospital, Leh and doctors to provide best available medical care to the injured. The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Moses Kunzang, also visited the hospital.
