DB seeks monthly status report of ongoing works in Mantalai

JAMMU, Dec 24: With Tourism Department submitting that Mantalai Project will be completed in 2021, the Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Tashi Rabstan has sought monthly status report about all the ongoing works.
When the PIL filed by Advocate Sumit Nayyar came up for hearing, the DB observed, “status report dated December 20, 2018 filed by Secretary to Government, Tourism Department has given details of the various facilities to be developed at Mantalai, Sudhmahadev and Patnitop”, adding “the report sets out details of the sanctioned costs, funds released, funds utilized, the status of the work and the expected date of completion”.
The DB directed respondents to ensure that monthly status reports be placed before this court with regard to all the on-going works.
The DB was informed that work with regard to Sudh Mahadev Development Project stands completed while as project for Mantalai shall be completed in the year 2021. As far as Patnitop is concerned, the DB was informed that the work remained suspended for over one year with effect from August 25, 2017 on account of certain disputes with the Forest Department”.
Accordingly, DB issued notice to to the Commissioner/ Secretary, Forest Department returnable on December 27, 2018.
