JAMMU, Mar 10: Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and Justice Sanjeev Kumar has directed the Wildlife Department to prepare and submit revised Integrated Development Plan for world famous Gharana Wetland within a period of four weeks.
After going through the draft Integrated Approach for the Development of Gharana Wetland submitted by Wildlife Department through Additional Advocate General Rohit Kapoor, the DB observed, “a proposal for Sewage Treatment Plant is a must. It is necessary requirement for recycling the water discharged from the village”.
Stating that contamination of any kind should be avoided in the area around the wetland, the DB directed the Wildlife Department to prepare and submit Revised Integrated Development Plan expeditiously, preferably within a period of four weeks.
“The Wildlife Department shall duly consult the Department of Ecology, and Environment and Remote Sensing or any other certified technical expert for this purpose”, the DB further directed.
After going through the status report submitted by Deputy AG Ehsan Mirza in compliance to previous directions, the DB said, “the status report doesn’t contain full details. However, the specific direction is that the Revenue Authority shall identify the persons who are owners/occupiers in respect of the area so marked in the GPS readings”.
On this, Additional Advocate General Rohit Kapoor appearing on behalf of all the official respondents stated that this exercise will be done immediately and the report will be filed. “The respondents will submit the details of ownership/occupation of the area marked as per the GPS readings”, the DB said.
AAG Rohit Kapoor also produced copy of Notification No. DIP/J-11409/18 dated February 23, 2018 issued by the Collector, Land Acquisition, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, R S Pura under Sub-Section (1) of Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act to acquire land measuring 408 Kanals approximately. On this, DB directed AAG to file the same along with next status report.
“While proceeding further on the acquisition of land for developing and preserving Gharana Wetland, the Collector, Land Acquisition is directed to consider the option of providing the villagers, whose lands are to be acquired, alternate land in lieu of the land notified and in this regard, the Collector shall get inputs from the Naib Tehsildar, who is directed to identify suitable land, which can be given in lieu of the land, sought to be acquired”, the DB said.
“The status report regarding identification of land as per the GPS readings shall be submitted to this court on or before March 19”, the DB said.
