Petition regarding dearth of staff in HC

JAMMU, Nov 11: In a petition filed by Joginder Singh, Bench Secretary regarding dearth of staff at various levels, pay anomaly and lack of promotional avenues to Law Graduate Readers, a Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice Rajesh Sekri has imposed cost of Rs 10000 on Commissioner Secretary Finance Department.
When the petition came-up for hearing, Monika Kohli, Senior AAG and K D S Kotwal, Deputy AG on their own sought further three weeks time as last and final opportunity to do the needful in terms of order dated 14.10.2022. Their statements were taken on record in the open court.
The DB granted three weeks time to do the needful in terms of order dated 14.10.2022, which shall, however, be subject to payment of costs of Rs 10,000 to be deposited by Commissioner Secretary Finance Department in the High Court Employees Welfare Fund, failing which the officer shall appear in person to explain the position as to why the orders of court have not been complied with till date.
The DB also expected that the Chief Secretary, UT of Jammu and Kashmir shall look into the matter personally.
