JAMMU, Dec 3: In a PIL filed by JKNPP chief Prof Bhim Singh alleging transfer of 623 kanal of forest land to the JDA for construction of a colony, Division Bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Hasnain Massodi took serious note of non-production of report of the committee of two ministers.
When the PIL was taken-up, Division Bench observed, “in terms of order dated April 15, 2013 Advocate General had stated that the Chief Minister has constituted a Committee of two Ministers, namely, Minister of Forest and the Minister of Urban Development and they were to meet as per the statement made, a week later and submit report within two weeks thereafter. However, till date report of the Committee has not been placed on record despite various opportunities having been granted”.
After hearing Advocate SK Shukla (Court Counsel), Advocate H C Jalmeria for the PIL whereas Advocate G S Thakur for the Forest Department and Advocate Adarsh Sharma for JDA, Division Bench granted last opportunity to the respondents to file Committee’s report failing which the Advocate General shall appear and explain his statement made on April 15, 2013.
