DB grants 4 weeks time for response by GAD, H&UDD, JMC, SVO

JAMMU, Feb 17: Division Bench of the State High Court comprising Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur has granted four weeks time to the respondents for filing response to the PIL seeking State Vigilance Organization probe into ‘allotment scam’ in Jammu Municipal Corporation.
The time has been granted to Commissioner Secretaries of General Administration Department, Housing and Urban Development Department, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, Director State Vigilance Organization, former Commissioner Secretary former Joint Commissioner of JMC R S Jamwal, former PA to Commissioner JMC Madan Mohan, Bharat Bhushan (Driver) JMC, Surinder Kumar PSO to Commissioner  Secretary H&UDD, Balbir Singh (driver SUDA), Narinder Sharma (President NGO-PEACE), Chain Singh and Kharati Lal.
In the PIL filed by Irtiza Mushtaq, a practicing lawyer of J&K High Court and RTI Activist prayer has been made for quashment of orders whereby Jammu Municipal Corporation has allotted 10 Municipal Flats situated at Gandhi Nagar on pick and choose basis to various ex-officers of JMC including some private persons.
On the last date of hearing, the Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed had taken cognizance of the PIL and issued notices to all the respondents including the beneficiaries of the allotment.
After hearing Advocate Sheikh Najeeb Ashraf appearing for the petitioner whereas Senior AAG Seema Khajooria Shekhar for GAD, Senior AAG S S Nanda for H&UDD, Deputy AG Raman Sharma for SVO, Advocate Sachin Gupta for JMC and Senior Advocate R K Gupta, Advocate S K Anand, Advocate Abhinav Sharma for beneficiaries of the allotments, the Division Bench granted four weeks further time for filing of response in the PIL.
