SRINAGAR, Nov 30: Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Sanjeev Kumar has expressed displeasure over denial of admissions to transgenders community in the educational institutions.
“The respondents shall ensure that persons belonging to this community are given admissions in the colleges and schools and if action taken report is not filed within three weeks the Secretary to Government, School Education Department as well as Secretary to Government, Higher Education Department shall remain personally present on the next date of hearing”, the DB directed .
It is worthwhile to mention here that Division Bench has already directed Chief Secretary to examine this aspect of the matter and, if possible, designate/constitute a dedicated authority for the welfare of transgenders. Such authority would function as a nodal authority and will go a long way in mitigating the woes of the transgenders.
