JAMMU, Oct 17: Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today disposed of the PIL seeking quashment of FIR against Judicial Officer in Sopore Ambulance case.
“IG Kashmir has tendered an unqualified apology in view of the violation committed by the officers of police agency which was accepted by this court vide order dated February 21, 2014”, the DB said, adding “to prevent any such incident in future, this court had directed Secretary Home Department to circulate copies of the guidelines framed by the Apex Court among all the police officers of the State and subsequently an affidavit was filed by the Home Secretary in that regard”.
The DB further said, “taking a serious view in the matter, various orders were passed in present petition and the respondents realizing their mistake initiated steps in exercise of the powers vested under Rule 567 of J&K Police Rules leading to cancellation of the FIR”, adding “in view of this we don’t wish to proceed with the PIL and the same stands disposed of”.
