JAMMU, Feb 27: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) pertaining to road widening from Dalgate Boulvard to Hazratbal, Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today issued certain directives to the Government.
“Pursuant to order dated 23rd December 2019, a status report stands filed by Chief Engineer PWD(R&B) Kashmir pointing out substantial steps already achieved in the widening of the road from Dalgate to Zakura. Certain impediments have been placed which shows that there is difficulty in the land acquisition regarding certain structures”, the DB observed.
Accordingly, DB directed the Collector Land Acquisition to ensure that prompt steps are taken to ensure completion of the project. “The Finance Department shall also examine difficulties being faced in the acquisition process for want of adequate funds and ensure that the needful is done”, the DB further directed and asked for filing fresh status report before the next date of hearing.
