JAMMU, Oct 5: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Bar Association Jammu regarding various developments in the court premises and also black topping of new parking place, Division Bench of State High Court today directed the Chief Engineer R&B to initiate steps on ground by or before October 24.
When the matter came up for hearing, Chief Engineer R&B, who was present in the court, expressed his inability to go ahead with the black topping of the parking area adjacent to District Court Complex Jammu on the ground that the necessary approval is yet to be accorded by the competent authority.
Upon this, Division Bench comprising Justice Hasnain Massodi and Justice BS Walia deferred the matter and directed to be listed after 2 pm and asked Chief Engineer to contact Commissioner Secretary to seek approval for commencing the work.
When the matter was again taken-up after break, Chief Engineer said that Commissioner granted permission to float a NIT so that the macadamization work is commenced without delay.
Upon this, Division Bench directed Chief Engineer to float NIT within two days so that the macadamization of work is commenced by or before October 24.
