JAMMU, Mar 14: In a Public Interest Litigation regarding play grounds, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Sanjeev Kumar today clarified on certain aspects.
After hearing both the sides, the DB observed, “all playgrounds shall be used only for the purpose they have been earmarked, namely, for sporting activities”, adding “insofar as the order dated 11.11.2014 in WPPIL No. 20/2014 is concerned, it is clarified that the permission that is to be accorded by the court for using any of the playgrounds for any purpose other than one pertaining to sports would only relate to Independence Day celebrations or Republic Day celebrations”.
“Of course, the play grounds can be requisitioned for any emergency services in the event of floods, earth quakes and other natural calamities. This order shall apply to all designated playgrounds”, the DB directed.
