DB directive on old age home

JAMMU, May 15: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Viklang Chattra Trust seeking better care of old age home, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal has directed the Finance Department to grant approval to the DPR submitted by the Social Welfare Department.
After hearing Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi with Advocate Veenu Gupta for the PIL whereas Deputy AG Vishal Bharti and Government Advocate Ahtsham Bhat for the State, the DB observed, “a statement was made before the court that Detailed Project Report has already been prepared which has to be approved by the Finance Department”.
“On 28.02.2017, the matter was adjourned awaiting the financial clearance from the Finance Department and the matter was directed to be posted on 23.03.2017. However, when the matter was taken up today, Government Advocate Ahtsham Bhat has submitted that the matter is still pending for consideration before the Finance Department”.
Accordingly, DB directed Secretary, Finance Department to examine the DPR submitted by Social Welfare Department and grant approval within a period of three weeks from today.
