JAMMU, July 31: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by National Federation of Blind (NFB) Jammu Branch, a Division Bench of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court comprising Chief Justice N Kotiswar Singh and Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal has issued directions for filing the criteria to assess the “low vision” candidates who have been selected and given appointment under Section 34(1)(a) of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
After hearing Senior Advocate SK Rongta with Advocate Ravi Abrol for the PIL whereas Senior AAG SS Nanda for the UT, the DB observed, “providing this court of the merit list of the candidates who belong to the category of “blind and low vision” as contemplated under Section 34(1)(a) of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, and also as to how many of them have been given selection for appointment would help proper adjudication of the matter”.
