God has blessed each and every creature with unique abilities, talents, attitudes and aptitudes. What is required is to strive to create cirumstances so that these talents and abilities are used to their optimum level and our attitudes and aptitudes are provided opportunities so that they are able to blossom. Our Rishis and saints always laid stress on self realization as the main aim of life.In order to achieve self realization, it is essential that we discover our strengths and potential and then take steps to make their full use.For this purpose, it is imperative that we dare to be ourselves and think freely and independently, unmindful of the criticism of others. But as we grow up, our life and thoughts are influenced and conditioned by the social values, norms and mores prevalent in the society. Our interaction with peers, parents, relatives also helps in influencing our thoughts and mode of behaviour. We find it difficult to think independently as social mores, do’s and don’ts of the society interfere with our free thinking.
So one should try hard to be oneself, believe that dreams do come true to those who dare to believe in themselves and strive hard to use one’s abilities, talents and potential to one’s full to realise the dreams.According to R W Emerson,’To be yourself in a world which is constantly changing to make you something else is a great achievement’.In order to be oneself, it is essential that we first accept ourselves completely alongwith our strengths and frivolities. We ought to learn to believe in our strength and ability and realize that God has sent us to this beautiful world with a purpose. It should be noted that if you cannot love yourself, none else will love you.To ensure that people love you, you should treat yourself as you would treat your best friend. Donot live your life as people will like you to.It is an accepted fact that you cannot please everybody. If you change your behaviour to please one group, other groups will get angry and so on.You ought to explore yourself and discover your strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes.
We ought to realise that none is perfect in this world and there is none who has not made mistakes at one point of life or the other. So, it is useless to regret our past mistakes and get fixed to them.Just forget them and learn to grow out of them.Surround yourself by positive people to have positive and invigorating thoughts. You ought to remember that your stability and peace of mind depends on your inner strengths. So establish a connection with your inner resources and try to be a man you would like to live with.Learn to face facts and speak out your thoughts even when others dislike them.Be courageous to live a thrilling and tranquil life of your own.You should work out your priorities and stand up what you believe in.You should not be guided by the others choice and live life as people will like you to.Living life as per the wishes of others will kill your naturalself.’ Don’t go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail’says RW Emerson. So strive to unfold what has been enfolded in you.Dream big and donot limit yourself to aspire for achieving those things which seem realistic and possible becsuse many of the things that exist today are because of those ‘crazy’people who dared to dream big and make the impossible possible. Across the world and through the annals of history, we have great men and women -scientists, philosphers, writers etc who thought independently and believed in themselves amidst obstacles to bring revolutions in their respective fields and the lives of people and thus, bring their dreams to reality. So think big and independently by listen to the child in you and learn to display natural behaviour as children always do.They care little about what people think about them. They play, roam about and sing uninhibited and unmindful of others’response and reaction. They are, in fact, our great teachers and we ought to learn from them as to how to act natural and dare to be ‘yourself’.
