KATHUA, Jan 18: Activists and leaders of DAP staged a peaceful protest demonstration against the land eviction order by the Jammu and Kashmir Government, here today.
The protesters urged the Government to revoke the order of land eviction which is affecting the poor people in Jammu and Kashmir and in this regard a memorandum was also submitted to the Deputy Commissioner Kathua by Subash Gupta, vice president Jammu Province in presence of other leaders including Brijeshwar Singh, president DAP Kathua, general secretary DAP RS Chib, vice chairman GM Saroori, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Provincial president and Salman Nizami, chief spokesperson.
Ch. Gharu Ram, Vinod Misra, general secretary, Maheshwar Singh, Provincial general secretary, Hira Lal Abrol, state secretary, Dr Amar Chand Bhagat, Davinder Singh Bindoo, Naresh Gupta Provincial vice president, Ghulam Hyder Malik, Davinder Singh Bindu and Aradhna Andotra were present during the protest.
The general secretary said, “It is an anti-people order and should be revoked immediately because it is hitting the poor and needy people.”
The protestors also submitted a memorandum to the District Development Commissioner in which the party termed the order of eviction unfair and anti people. “We want this order to be revoked immediately. We can’t keep watching the sufferings of our people,” they said.
The Government should frame the policies to empower the people, they said, adding that the protest was organized on the instructions of party chief Ghulam Nabi Azad.
They said that DAP is working for the socioeconomic empowerment of people and it will fight against all those orders which are hurting the interests of common people.
Arjun Singh, Advocate Ajat Shatru, Kamal Singh, Rajinder Thakur, Ashutosh Raina, Sarpanch Nawab Din, Surjeet Singh, Tarseem Singh and others were also part of the protest.
