DAK for time-bound promotion of doctors in Health Dept

SRINAGAR, Feb 5: Doctors Association of Kashmir (DAK) today demanded time-bound comprehensive promotion policy for the doctors in the Health Department in line with the Medical Colleges across J&K
In a statement issued here, President Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK), Dr Suhail Naik said that despite the appointment of one thousand Medical Officers, there is an adverse doctor-patient ratio in Union Territory of J&K.
“Excluding summer and winter capital the fragility of the healthcare system is obvious and it is a prime responsibility of the administration to upgrade the health care delivery system by creating and timely promoting Medical Officers with Post Graduations to consultants with predefined caderization,” he said.
He said that it is very imperative to appinted the second line faculty tier in five new Medical Colleges on fast track basis to provide the best medical education to medical graduates.
General Secretary DAK, Dr Owais H Dar said that there are an uneven distribution and apparent discrepancy in number and distribution of different consultant posts across J&K.
Dr Fayaz Bhat, spokesperson of DAK said the promotive system should be streamlined like that of medical colleges in the rural and peripheral health sector.
“Not only the creation of more consultant posts in different streams of the peripheral health system is need of the hour but timely promotion is also an important aspect of the comprehensive promotive policy,” he said.
DAK has requested the LG administration and RR Bhatnagar, Advisor to the LG to create new consultant and senior Consultant posts across J&K and expedite the process of timely promotion which has slowed down due to COVID-19 pandemic.
