DAK discusses issues confronting medical fraternity with Dulloo

SRIANGAR, Aug 14: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today held a meeting with Financial Commissioner of Health and Medical Department, Atal Dulloo and discussed various issues confronting the medical fraternity in Jammu and Kashmir.
A delegation of DAK led by Dr Mir Mushtaq and comprising by Dr Arshid Trag, Dr Fayaz Ahmad, Dr Imtiyaz Banday President JKSDS and Dr Basharat H Shah Distt President JKSDS Srinagar and Dr Muhammad Yousuf Tak, Convener JKDCC met Dulloo.
The main issues discussed in the meeting include doctor welfare fund, risk and rural allowances, two and half day salary, rationalisation of roasters, and security system for hospitals.
DAK apprised FC about the need for continuous medical education, refreshing courses and workshops, and specialised training courses for in-service doctors from time to time.
The doctor’s body impressed upon the FC that the daughter of martyred doctor Dr Muhammad Ashraf Mir be nominated for MBBS to continue the legacy of her deceased father.
DAK apprised FC that frontline health workers are working day night to contain the on-going pandemic and save human lives.
It emphasized that oxygen is the drug of choice for any critically ill patients irrespective of aetiology and the first-line drug for COVID bilateral pneumonia.
DAK demanded enhancing the insurance cover of medicos to one crore on the analogy of other states and Union Territories like Delhi.
“Many patients are referred to central hospitals for oxygen therapy as rural hospitals do not have oxygen plants,” said president DAK, Dr Suhail Naik.
He the installation of central oxygen plants in rural hospitals will significantly curtail referral to central hospitals which would, in the long run, decrease mortality and morbidity rate among sick patients.
DAK also appraised FC about some fake media persons spreading misinformation which is defaming health department, doctors and officers and demanded strict action against such persons.
