JAMMU, Jan 28: Taranjit Singh Tony, chairman of AAP J&K for Administrative Engagement and Minority Affairs, and Member DDC, Suchetgarh today said that the dairy farming sector in Suchetgarh appears to be a profitable venture as more and more start-ups and dairy units have been established in the vicinity providing multifaceted incentives and avenues to the people.
The senior AAP leader was addressing a gathering as chief guest during a Veterinary Camp organized here at Sai Khurd in Suchetgarh.
On the occasion, Tony disbursed free medicines among the visitors and also urged them to rely on modern technology for increasing yield and ensuring good health of their livestock. He assured to take every possible step to help educated youth take advantage of the available initiatives including the Dairy Sector and become financially self-sufficient. He said that Suchetgarh has a lot of scope for the Animal Husbandry sector, notably dairy farming, because of its favorable climate and soil and therefore more people can try their hand in dairy farming to ensure exclusive white revolution in the constituency.
The AAP leader said that anticipating varied prospects, a growing number of young people are entering in dairy farming and therefore it is advisable for the local youth to adopt this sector as their livelihood as there is plenty of scope for the growth of this line because of huge demand for pure milk and its bye products. He said that looking into the issues and problems of the dairy farmers, it becomes imperative that the owners of the livestock should be allowed to fix the rates of milk as presently the Government has kept the decision in its domain and the rates decided are not fair as far as cost of producing milk is concerned.
He said that nearly 175 units of Animal Husbandry have been opened in the constituency but still there is a lot more scope to provide facilities to the people. He demanded that all the schemes of the Animal Husbandry Department should be brought at farmers’ doorsteps to make the business lucrative and enticing as presently the farmers have to go to the concerned department for fulfilling their daily needs.
Sham Lal Bhagat and other beneficiaries of the Animal Husbandry Department were also present in the camp and actively persuaded the visiting farmers to try their luck in the thriving business of dairy farming, which is proving benevolent and productive these days.
