DA case: SC denies bail to Jagan

NEW DELHI, May 9: The Supreme Court today dismissed the bail petition of YSR Congress leader Jagan Mohan Reddy in the disproportionate assets case.

Jagan, MP from Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh, is facing allegations of acquiring huge assets through corrupt means during the tenure of his father late Y S Rajashekhara Reddy as the chief minister.

The apex court had earlier reserved its verdict on his bail application after hearing counsels of CBI and Jagan.

Jagan was seeking bail on the grounds that the investigation was already completed and the charge sheet had already been filed and the trial would take a long time.

The CBI had opposed the petition on the grounds that witnesses would not be able to depose before the court without fear if the petitioner was granted bail since he has tremendous political clout and money and muscle power.
