MENDHAR, Apr 24: While a Parade College (Jammu) lecturer hailing from Mendhar who was seriously injured in LPG cylinder blast during marriage function succumbed to injuries in Ludhaina hospital last night, a house was extensively damaged in yet another LPG cylinder blast at Salwah in Mendhar last night.
A police spokesman said that Lecturer Shakeela Bi, wife of Executive Engineer (PDD), Mohd Sadiq of Mendhar who was seriously injured along with five other family members during marriage function, in a cylinder explosion died last night. Her body was brought here for the last rites today.
Yet another LPG cylinder exploded in the house of one Faiz Hussain, son of Karam Din at Salwah at around 8.30 pm last night. While the family members ran to safety, the house suffered extensive damage in powerful blast. The house hold items were gutted in fire. The panic was created with big bang in the area and the locals extinguished the fire.
It is pertinent to mention here that at least four such incidents have taken place in Mendhar area in last two months. The CAPD officials and Police need to investigate the matter for ensuring public safety.
