Cyber Police Jammu nabs one for sending obscene pictures

JAMMU, Aug 12: On a written complaint received at Cyber Police Station Jammu from a woman of Jammu that one unknown Facebook profile with a female nomenclature had became Facebook friend with her. Soon after becoming friends with her the handler of that Facebook profile confessed that he is a male and started sending vulgar comments/obscene pictures on Facebook messenger.
Based on the complaint, a Case FIR No. 04/2020 U/S 67/67-A/Information Technology Act was registered at Cyber Police Station, Jammu and the investigation of the case was entrusted to Inspector Rakesh Sharma of Cyber Police Station, Jammu. During the course of investigation the data (both electronic & physical) was collected and analysed. Based on the evidences collected, the Investigating Officer under close supervision of Naresh Singh SP Operations Jammu( SHO Cyber Police Station) zeroed down on one suspect namely Ramesh Kumar son of Bihari Lal resident of Khour Deonian, Police Station Miran Sahib, R.S.Pura Jammu. The accused was summoned for questioning at Cyber Police Station Jammu.
During questioning, the suspect confessed the commission of crime and subsequently he was arrested in the instant case. Further investigation of the case is in process. During investigation it has surfaced that the accused used to send similar friend requests and obscene pictues to multiple Facebook users.
Jammu police has assured that whosoever is misusing Cyber space, either by spreading/sharing fake messages/news or by making fake profiles, hacking social media profiles, uploading obscene/anti-religious/anti-national comments/videos/messages/pictures would be dealt strictly under law.
SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil has requested public to be aware and not to get trapped to the fake and false propaganda on social media, fake lotteries, fake shopping sites, OLX frauds etc. Further the public is requested to always secure their email ID’s/social media profiles like facebook/twitter/Instagram accounts etc. with two factor authentication, keep secure passwords of social media profiles/emails/net banking/UPI apps and never share bank/aadhar card, other identity details and especially OTP with anyone.
