JAMMU, Apr 29: In the ongoing nationwide lockdown, SSP Cyber Cell Jammu, Sandeep Mehta has alerted the common masses from fraudsters befooling people through various means particularly on internet to buy grocery, medicine etc by online home delivery.
In a handout SSP Mehta has also mentioned about various fake accounts demanding COVID-19 donations to distribute food items among the needy or making PPEs wherein the fraudsters pose themselves as representative of some NGO or religious group etc.
The handout also stated that the cheats may also commit frauds on the name of Bank EMI or Income Tax refund. The SSP also said that in the present pandemic cops are pre-occupied and there might be delayed response to such fraud related cases as COVID-19 is the top priority but common public should beware of such frauds.
He suggested adopting preventive measures and remaining alert to remain safe from online frauds.
