CVHDC panel flays Govt for neglect of Doda

JAMMU, May 27:  All Party Action Committee,  Chenab Valley Hill Development  Council (CVHDC) has strongly criticized the Government for the neglect of  Doda-Kishtwar –Ramban  region.
In a meeting of  the Committee held here under the chairmanship of its chief patron- Sheikh Abdul  Rehman (Ex-MP), the members discussed various problems being faced by the people of Chenab Valley region due to neglect and step motherly treatment meted out to the people by successive Governments. They said due to recent incessant rains, tremor  during 2013-14 and callous attitude adopted by Govt after completion of  Baglihar project,  the Batote-Kishtwar NH-1B, has become a death trap.
They alleged that the main thrust of development  has been in and around Jammu and Srinagar cities ignoring this vast  Chenab Valley region. Mr Rehman said that Jammu & Kashmir provinces have more than half a dozen universities, two  Central Universities, cancer centers but Chenab Valley region has no University or any professional institution.
He demanded that IIM needed be opened near Chenani and IIT in Batote which are the centrally located places between Jammu and Srinagar. He said the Medical College sanctioned during UPA-II for Chenab valley region needed be established at Paryote, Shiva or Jodhpur where sufficient land is available instead of proposed site Ghat.
Amrit Varsha, Ram Singh Chouhan, Fateh Ali Shah, Surishta Devi, Kanta Devi Ex-Sarpanch and Sheikh Mohammad Shafi also spoke on the occasion.
