Srinagar, July 14: Government today announced imposition of curfew across Kashmir on Friday and mobile networks have been shut down to prevent flare up of violence. In the meantime, one more youth today succumbed to injures in South Kashmir taking the death toll in the violence after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, to 37 as another 3140 persons including 1500 security men are now reported to be injured.
In view of first Friday after weeklong violence, the Government today announced imposition of curfew across Kashmir valley. The mobile network across Kashmir have been shut down to prevent flare up of violence.
A meeting in this effect was held at Civil Secretariat and it was decided that curfew will be imposed in entire Kashmir valley and mobile networks will be shut down to prevent any further violence.
According to District Magistrates of Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal and Baramulla, curfew will be imposed throughout the districts of Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal and Baramulla tomorrow. “No public or vehicular movement, except medical emergencies would be allowed”, the statement said.

In the meantime, one Irfan Maqsood Dar son of Maqsood Dar resident of Tuli Nowpora of Bugund in Kulgam district who had sustained serious injuries three days ago succumbed here, taking the death toll of protesters to 37.
A police spokesman said here that overall situation throughout the Valley remained under control today though some incidents of stone pelting were reported.
“Some stray and intermittent incidents of stone pelting were reported from Qoimoh, Kulgam, Khudwani, Trehgam, Lalpora, Battergam, Kupwara, Hyhama, Hatmulla, Warpora, Sopore, Arampora, Cement bridge, Baramulla, Palhalan, Suzaith, Parimpora, Narbal, Chinkral Mohalla and Habakadal”, the spokesman said.
The spokesman said that a mob set on fire a residential house in Bamdoora in Kokernag in district Anantnag. The house belonged to Farooq Ahmad Kawa and in this house Burhan Wani and his associates were killed by security forces in the operation.
A mob of 4000 in Bamdoora also targeted high density orchard of Khurram Shafi Mir. Former Chief Minster Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had visited the orchard last year. They uprooted 4000 trees and set afire a tractor, two huts, a bathroom and two bikes. The managers of the orchard, however, saved their lives.
In the meantime, curfew and shutdown across the Kashmir continued today. The curfew was strictly enforced in Old City, Maisuma, Batamaloo and parts of South and North Kashmir.
Huge contingents of forces have been deployed all across Valley and particularly in curfew-bound areas. Despite stringent security arrangements, clashes erupted between youths and security forces at multiple places in Valley.
The clashes took place at Palhallan, Tappar Pattan, Bandipora Town, Regipora Kupwara, Trehgam, Lalpora, Kralpora, Tikipora and other areas. Two persons Omar Zargar and Imtiyaz Ahmad were injured at Batargam Kupwara and at Narbal.
An official spokesman today intimated that the Government has been regularly reviewing the arrangements, particularly for the treatment of the civilians injured during the law and order disturbances in Kashmir valley.
The statement said that the required facilities including the availability of medical specialists, para medical staff and medicines have been ensured in all the hospitals, to facilitate timely and free treatment to all the patients. He allayed the apprehensions in certain quarters in regard to inadequacy of health care services for the injured during the ongoing law and order disturbances.
The spokesman said that as per the confirmation received from various agencies, so far 31 civilians have lost their precious lives, during the law and order disturbances in the past few days. He further informed that 1640 persons have been treated for injuries in various Government hospitals.
“At present, only 198 patients are currently admitted in the hospitals and the remaining have either been discharged from hospital or treated for minor injuries in OPD. He further said that 134 persons have reported with eye injuries and a large number of them have been discharged after specialized treatment. Currently 46 such patients are admitted in SMHS Hospital and have undergone eye surgeries. Further, so far, a total of 276 surgeries have been performed in various hospitals across the Valley during the last 5-6 days. Further the hospital authorities have also been directed to provide free food to the accompanying attendants as well”, the spokesman said.
The spokesman said that while tackling the unruly crowds, over 1500 security personnel have received injuries and have been provided treatment.
