JAMMU, Mar 27: SMVDU’s Cultural and Literary Fest ‘Resurgence 2024’ was inaugurated today.
Dr. Kamni Pathania, vice president of Board of Cultural Activities delivered welcome address.
Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SMVDU while speaking on the occasion emphasized on the integral role of cultural activities in holistic education and university’s commitment to foster creativity and innovation among its students.
The chief guest, Squadron Leader Anil Sehgal (retired) highlighted the role of cultural activities in shaping well-rounded individuals and fostering unity in diversity.
Eminent Singer, Seema Sehgal, was guest of honour and she talked on the power of music.
Dr. Shah Nawaz, Editor cum Cultural Officer, JKAACL graced the occasion as special guest.
The audience was mesmerized by the performance of Geetru folk dance by Ram Ditta and party.
Students from various departments enthralled the audience with their diverse cultural performances.
The event also witnessed inter-college programmes in which GCW Udhampur, GDC Kathua and SMVDU students had great competition.
An inter-college debate competition on ‘Does Social Media Strengthen or Weaken Democracy’ was also organized.
Chaitanya from Radio Mirchi, Dr. Ruchi Shah and Dr. Satish Tiwari judged the inter-college competition.
Dr. Rakesh Thusoo, president of the Board of Cultural Activities delivered vote of thanks.
