Cultural Academy organizes Mushaira

AKHNOOR, July 16: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized a Dogri Mushiara on the concluding day of month-long celebrations of ‘Rutt Rahade’-an important festival of Dogra Region, here at village Barui.
The festival was being celebrated by Duggar Sanskriti Sangam, Batehra.
The overall function was presided over by Dr Lalit Magotra, president, Dogri Sanstha, Jammu and convener of Dogri Language at Sahitya Academy, New Delhi whereas the Mushiara was presided over by well known writer of Dogri Language, ND Jamwal.
Anjali Sharma, Assistant Director, Radio Kashmir Jammu, was the chief guest while Ashok Gupta, Editor, Dogri, Dhian Singh, president, Duggar Sanskriti Sangam, Batehra and Sarpanch of the area, Milkhi Ram also shared the dais.
The poets who recited their poems included OP Shakir, Surinder Sagar, ND Jamwal, Dhyan Singh, Jugal Chanan, Kewal Kumar Kewal, Mohan Singh Jamwal, Mohan Lal, Varinder Sharma, Swarn Singh, OP Deepak, Prem Sagar, Nasib Singh, Rishi Kavi, Satpal Hiteshi, Rattan Bhardwaj, Rameshwar Sunglia, RC Verma and Reenu Devi.      The other attractions of the function was the presentation of beautiful songs of ‘Rutt Rahade’ by a musical group and other local folk singers.
An exhibition of Dogri books was also organized by the Cultural Academy to inspire the rural people to read Dogri books.
Ashok Gupta, incharge of the Mushiara and book exhibition while speaking on the occasion highlighted the activities of the Academy and asked the people to approach Academy with their suggestions for the promotion of art, culture and languages of the State.
