Cultivation along zero line to be allowed in phased manner: DC

SAMBA, Mar 5: On the directions of Lieutenant Governor, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Rohit Khajuria today conducted an extensive tour of border villages in Ramgarh tehsil and took firsthand appraisal of issues faced by border dwellers.
During the tour programme, he was accompanied by Commandant BSF, A K Singh; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Jitender Mishra; Sub Divisional Magistrate, Vijaypur CP Kotwal; BDC Chairman Ramgarh Darshan Singh besides Tehsildar Ramgarh, local Panchs and Sarpanchs.
The Deputy Commissioner held detailed discussions with the BDC chairman, local Panchs, Sarpanchs and general public about host of issues including cultivation on zero line agricultural land, cutting of grass like pampas, damage to standing crops by wild animals, power and drinking water supply scenario and other locals issues.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that cultivation of land at zero line shall be allowed in a phased manner. “In the first phase, cultivation will be allowed over 1600 kanal land in villages from Kangrial post to Nanga post, Patjyal Kurd, Chak Salaria and others. The farmers will be issued identity cards for cultivating crops at zero line and adequate security shall also be provided,” added DC Samba.
He also directed concerned agencies on the spot to immediately provide respite in the power supply, drinking water and connectivity issues.
Block Development Council Chairman, PRI members and other general public expressed gratitude as all their demands were properly listened and addressed during the tour programme of DC. They also paid hailed LG’s team for swift action in response to their concerns.
