CUK to launch programs for youth

SRINAGAR, Apr 7:   The Central University of Kashmir (CUK) In-charge Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mehraj-ud-Din Mir today said the varsity is in the process of launching programmes, which would meet the aspirations of the youth intending to pursue higher education.
Addressing the students and faculty of Government Degree College Ganderbal, Professor Mehraj-ud-Din said the University wants to know from the students, about some other programmes which can be started at the CUK for their lifelong benefit and overall development.
College Principal, Prof. Nasreen Malik, Head of the Department, Tourism Studies (CUK), Prof. S Fayyaz, Management Department, Associate Professor, Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Nikka, Coordinator Convergent Journalism Department, Shahnaz Bashir and other functionaries of the varsity were also present during the interactive meet.
Prof. S Fayyaz Ahmad highlighted that the University was reaching out to the student community through these interactive session with the objective to understand their priorities towards academic career advancement.
Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Nikka reflected the University was focusing more on providing quality education to the students by offering cafeteria model of curriculum based on Choice Based Credit System.
Shahnaz Bashir said: “These students are selected through Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) and undergo rigorous and regular assessments in the concerned departments.”
Prof Nasreen Malik thanked the Vice-Chancellor, faculty and other allied staff for visiting the college and interacting with the students. She hoped that such programmes would continue in future under University-Colleges interaction programme.
Later, VC, principal and other staff released Shehjaar, the annual magazine of the college.
