CUJ organizes workshop on Accessing Database

JAMMU, Dec 8: Department of Economics, Central University of Jammu, organized a one-day workshop on “Accessing Database on Indian Economy”.
Dr Mohd Anwar, Assistant Advisor DSIM, RBI, Jammu, resource person for the workshop, deliberated at length about accessing database on Indian Economy available on the public domain of RBI. He discussed the databases on various sectors viz. real sector, banking sector, corporate sector, external sector and financial markets. He also enlightened the students how to use the RBI’s payment system database.
The resource person encouraged the students and scholars to think critically to make the best use of the variables discussed during the workshop. The scope of using this database for research purposes and policy formulation was discussed. Various survey methodologies for compiling the primary database, as well as the RBI’s initiative to collect and publish socioeconomic indicator databases, were also discussed.
Students, research scholars, and faculty from the Department raised questions about various aspects of using the database and the resource person meticulously addressed all conceptual issues.
Vice Chancellor CUJ, Prof Sanjeev Jain appreciated the initiative taken by the Department of Economics and encouraged the Department to hold more events of this nature for the students’ overall development.
