JAMMU, July 9: A delegation of J&K College Teachers Association (Jammu Wing) led by its president Dr Avinash Kumar Gupta today called on Prof MP Singh Ishar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, in his office here, and had a meeting with him.
Registrar, Controller Examinations, Special Secretary to VC and Joint Registrar (Finance) also attended the meeting.
The Association expressed its strong resentment for inordinate delay in rationalization and enhancement of remuneration rates including conveyance allowance for examination assignments and demanded revision in rates uniformly across UG and PG evaluation work.
The Vice Chancellor assured the Association that their demands would be looked into. On CTA’s demand to restore reservation in admission in PG classes for the wards of College teachers, The VC assured that their wards will be given reservation on the same pattern as is being extended to the University teachers.
The university authorities were reminded that Governor N N Vohra, in University Council Meeting, had directed the University Authorities to discuss the matter further in the joint committee.
The other issues which were discussed with Vice Chancellor were clearance of pending remuneration bills, release of pending payments to the teachers on account of TA/DA for attending Orientation/Refresher Courses and giving necessary directions for evaluating 25 answer scripts per day.
The Association also impressed upon the University Authorities for evolving an appropriate mechanism for deduction of tax at source and notifying the same for information of the teaching community.
