JAMMU, Nov 10: As a part of the India International Science Festival, which is being organized jointly by Ministries of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences and Vijnana Bharati at New Delhi on November 13, a precursor event, “Public Outreach Programme” was organized here today by CSIR-IIIM, Jammu.
On the occasion, the institute observed open day for the members of general public, entrepreneurs, scholars and students. The visitors majority of whom were students drawn from various Schools and colleges of the town, were taken to various divisions of the institute where the Scientists and Technical Staff have demonstrated the research activities. An impressive exhibition was held in which aromatic and medicinal products developed by CSIR-IIIM, Jammu were put on display.
Later, Prof. Mineesh Gulhati, renowned teacher of Physics, delivered popular science talk to the students who were on visit to the campus for the day. Prof. Gulhati enthralled the students through his power point presentation and practical demonstration covering different fundamental and advanced aspects of science and scientific inventions. In the session, Prof. Gulhati touched the working of electromagnetic substance, properties of matters, simple processes at surfaces and the physics of complex materials and biological systems. He also encouraged the students to make science and research as their passion which would help them to discover the fundamental laws of nature and build their knowledge and creativity.
Dr. Ram Vishwakarma, while speaking on the occasion, acknowledged the contribution of Prof. Gulhati in the field of teaching of Science. Dr. Vishwakarma wished the budding scholars for their successful scientific endeavour.
Abdul Rahim, Head PME conducted the proceeding of the function. Among many Dr. D. M. Mondhe, Sr. Principal Scientist, Dr. Gurdarshan Singh, Principal Scientist, Pankaj Bahadur, Controller of Administration and Praphul Kumar, Store and Purchase Officer were present.
