CSD demands constitution of Kandi Development Board

JAMMU, May 2: State chief, Congress Seva Dal (CSD), Balvinder Singh Sambyal, has demanded constitution of a Kandi Development Board as per other boards such as SC, BC, Kisan Development Board and Pahari Speaking Language Board.
While addressing a press conference here today, Balvinder Singh Sambyal said that the people of Kandi areas are being ignored in all fronts such as agriculture, youth employment and financial assistance to farmers.
Sambyal demanded that the Government should give due attention towards the Kandi areas which is spread from parts of Basholi to Sunderbani. He said that Basholi, Dinga Amb, Jasrota, Samba Upper, Riya Suchani, Utter Beni, Purmandal, Nud, Sumbh, Dagote, Guraha Slathia, Upper Chowadhi, Nagrota, Kot Bhalwal, Raipur, Domana, Mera Mandera and Chowki Chora, in short area mostly falling upper side of National Highway from Lakhanpur to Sunderwani, are annually hit by natural calamities like floods or drought but in these Kandi belts, no compensation is given to the farmers.
He said that people of these Kandi belts are still lacking basic facilities like regular supply of water, power and proper road connectivity. Sambyal appealed the State and Centre Governments to direct the concerned department to conduct appropriate survey of these Kandi belt areas and constitute Kandi Development Board (KDB) at earliest.
“Only Kandi Development Board can solve the problems of Kandi belt people, therefore, Government should act immediately to constitute the same extend sufficient funds and power to it so that the management of the board can take appropriate steps for the development of Kandi people and unemployed youth”, he added.
Sambyal also strongly stressed upon the Government to give reservation in jobs to the unemployed youth of Kandi areas irrespective of their caste, creed or religion.
Meanwhile, Sambyal announced that Ajay Kumar and Sunil Kumar Sharma have been nominated as State organizing secretary and district chief Samba, respectively.
