CS reviews progress of work on 4-laning of NH

JAMMU, Jan 30: Chief Secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Khandey, today reviewed the progress of work on 4-laning of National Highway Project in a meeting held here. The project is being executed by the National Highway Authority of India.
While receiving brief about issues involving structures coming in the way of the alignment and widening of the National Highway at some spots between Jammu-Udhampur stretch of the road, the Chief Secretary asked the concerned authorities to take necessary measures to remove these bottlenecks at the earliest.
“It is a project of national importance requiring expeditious completion for the benefit of the people”, he said, adding that compensation cases and removal of some remaining structures at some spots be addressed promptly and the project completed in all respects at the earliest.
Chief Secretary called for greater cooperation between various agencies involved with the project and asked Divisional Commissioner, Jammu to monitor and review the progress fortnightly. He also called on Deputy Commissioners to actively get involved on ground to resolve bottlenecks. The CS said that he would hold a review meeting next month on the action taken and review the progress on Jammu-Udhampur, Ramban-Banihal stretch of the NH-1A project.
Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, B. B. Vyas, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Shantmanu, Secretary Revenue, Vinod Koul, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Project Director NH-1A and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
