CS for expeditious execution of WSS

SAMBA/KATHUA, May 1: Chief Secretary, Iqbal Khandey, today exhorted upon Samba district dispensation of Samba to expedite works on Water Supply Schemes being executed in the district as the people of this kandi belt have to face a lot in this regard, especially in summer months.
The CS was chairing a meeting held to review the pace of progress on developmental projects being executed under various State and Centrally sponsored schemes.
The CS had a threadbare discussion on all major developmental works and other issues related to health, education, agriculture, horticulture, social welfare, drinking water supply and road connectivity. He asked the officers to explore possibilities and formulate project proposals on sectors having potential to accelerate economic development and employment in the district.
The CS directed the Chief Engineer PDD to address the issue regarding buffer stock of transformers besides instructing Chief Engineers of PHE and PWD for expediting works on water supply and road connectivity programmes.
District Development Commissioner, Samba, R.K Verma, presented a resume of physical and financial achievements of the schemes and projects being implemented in the district through Power Point Presentation. He said that almost all the departments have registered 100% achievement against available amount.
It was informed that Rs. 21.09 crore and Rs. 18.32 crore have been expended under capital component and revenue component respectively, which make the expenditure to the tune of 99%.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary along with Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Pradeep Gupta also reviewed physical and financial achievements of various State and Centrally sponsored schemes being implemented in the Kathua district at a meeting of district officers.
The CS emphasised the need of effective implementation of major flagship programmes which have a big role in speedy socio-economic development. He took stock of various State and Centrally sponsored schemes and stressed upon the concerned officers to ensure that all these vital works are done in time to meet their real purpose.
The CS appreciated the achievements of the district in RGGVY and said that all the pendencies under Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) would be cleared during this financial year. He exhorted upon the officers to work with zeal and dedication for development of the State.
Others present on the occasion were Director Education G A  Qureshi, Director Health Madhu Khullar, SSP kathua Atul Goel, ADDC Kathua Ajay Jamwal, DC Excise Mushtaq Ahmad, Chief Engineers of various works departments besides district officers.
