NEW DELHI, Jan 29: Crude oil futures prices rose by 0.23 per cent to Rs 5,225 per barrel today as speculators created fresh positions amid a firm trend in Asia.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in February gained Rs 8, or 0.23 per cent, to Rs 5,225 per barrel, with a business turnover of 4,640 lots.
The oil for March delivery moved up by Rs 12, or 0.23 per cent, to Rs 5,269 per barrel, with a business volume of 361 lots.
Market participants said the rise in crude oil futures was on account of a firm trend in Asia on upbeat US durable goods data and geopolitical concerns in Egypt and Algeria.
Meanwhile, crude oil for March delivery advanced by 20 cents to USD 96.64 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. (PTI)
