Avasthy told Excelsior that their responsibilities include traffic control to ensure the safe passage of convoys amidst increasing yatra traffic. He further said that their routine of securing the highway remains consistent, leveraging cutting-edge technologies that are not explicitly disclosed. “Whatever technology is available in the world, I would not like to mention it here, but we are using it during the yatra,” he said.
He said that the CRPF has been providing service to the public throughout the year, regardless of the yatra. However, additional personnel are deployed during the yatra, heightening their vigilance and commitment to the safety of the pilgrims.
“As the traffic increases with the yatra, our duties include traffic control, ensuring safe passage for the convoy. Our routine for securing the highway remains the same. Whether there is a yatra or no yatra, we have been at the service of people all year and around the clock. With yatra, some additional force is added to the existing force as we remain more careful,” he said.
While he mentioned that there is no specific threat to the Yatra, he said that their primary focus is on securing the highway under all circumstances, placing the security of the people as their top priority. “Whether there is yatra or not, we believe that the security of the people is our first priority. Our men are maintaining a tight vigil without any rest around the clock and throughout the year. They are always on duty and will always remain on duty,” he said.
Highlighting the positive relationship between the CRPF and the local population, Avasthy said the cooperation and assistance extended by the people, including offering water and help to the yatris were heart warming. “I would like to appeal to the Yatris to go there and pray for the peace of the world and the country,” he said.
