NEW DELHI, July 28: CRPF has opened a new skill development centre for hundreds of its troopers injured while encountering Naxals and insurgents, as part of its initiative to rehabilitate its men and their families.
A ‘Centre for Persons with Disabilities’ was opened in the national capital yesterday by Central Reserve Police Force chief Dilip Trivedi.
The centre will be run in collaboration with HCL Foundation under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) wing and will have trainers drawn from the paramilitary and general experts to train troops injured in operations for skills in computers and a host of other trades which will help them sustain their lives, a senior official said.
The centre, the official said, will also serve to work for the families of martyred or injured soldiers who want to take up some vocational work in order to sustain a livelihood for themselves.
The CRPF is the mainstay for anti-Naxal operations in the country and has deployed close to one lakh personnel for this task apart from several dedicated units which are rendering counter-insurgency duties in the North East and Jammu and Kashmir. (PTI)
