JAMMU, Aug 23: On the occasion of Army Wives Welfare Association Week, a “Health Mela” was organized at Military Hospital at Akhnoor for veterans, their families and families of serving soldiers located in areas around Akhnoor, Pallanwala and Sunderbani.
The event was organized with an aim of “One Window: Comprehensive Medical Care” for all residents in the area.
Screening for Life style diseases like Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus, Dyslipidemia and Obesity, Anemia, Breast Cancer, Cervical cancer and Oral Health was carried out during the mela. In addition services of Psychological Counselor, Physiotherapy Medical Specialists, Gynaecologist, Ophthalmologists, Lady Medical Officer and Dental Officer, duly supported by Laboratory and X-Ray facilities, were also provisioned. A health exhibition on the theme was also organized during the mela to impart health education on varied subjects. A total number of 1183 families benefited from the event.
