SRINAGAR, Oct 10: A delegation of the Salamabad-Chakoti Traders Union, Srinagar, met N N Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today and presented to him a memorandum of their demands.
The demands presented by the 8-member delegation led by Hilal Ahmad Turki, General Secretary of the Traders Union, included, interalia, increasing the number of cross LoC tradable goods, installation of full body truck X-ray scanners at the Trade Facilitation Centre, creation of additional storage infrastructure for goods and warehousing and cold storage facilities at Srinagar and Jammu for smooth supply of goods for cross LoC trade.
Other demands projected by the Union included accommodation facilities for the traders at the Trade Facilitation Centre, provision of canteen, medicare and office space for the traders, provision of insurance cover of goods, telecommunication and banking facilities and periodical meetings of cross LoC traders.
The Governor gave patient hearing to the delegation and informed them that he will take up all these issues with the Union Home Minister during his forthcoming visit to the State.
The 8-member delegation, comprising Raja Zahoor Khan, Farooq Ahmad Bagoo, Rashid Ali Zargar, Rafiq Mir, Ishfaq Ahmad Dar, Sami Ullah and Nazir Ahmad Ganai, thanked the Governor for taking keen interest in the promotion of the cross LoC trade.
Meanwhile, a deputation of the Kashmir Printers Association, Srinagar, called on N N Vohra, presented to him a memorandum of their demands.
The demands presented by the 5-member delegation led by Shabir Ahmed, President of the Association, included, interalia, taking measures for the growth of printing industry, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the printing industrial units and effective implementation of the provision of 15% price preference for these units as per the industrial policy.
The Governor observed that the problems brought up by the Association would be taken up with the Minister for Commerce and Industry. The delegation comprised G. N. Bangroo, General Secretary of the Association, Irshad, Vice President, Surinder Singh, Chief Organiser and Mukhtar Ahmed, Secretary.
A deputation of the J&K Human Welfare Association, Centre for Peace, Development of Humanity and Rehabilitation of ex-Militants, Srinagar also called on Mr. Vohra.
The Governor gave a sympathetic hearing to the deputation comprising Mohammad Farooq Khan, Chairman, Human Welfare Association, Nazir Ahmad Wani and Mohammad Sidiq Khan, Executive Members of the Association which urged, for various measures being taken to rehabilitate the ex-militants. The Governor agreed to take up the problems of this association with the Chief Minister.
